Soprano Sydney Anderson is quickly gaining recognition as an accomplished stage performer and concert soloist. A contemporary music enthusiast, Sydney has participated in numerous World Premieres as well as workshops at various
stages of the creation process. She was most recently featured as Monkey in the public workshop of The Opposable Thumb with American Lyric Theater, Snow/Child on the 2021 World Premiere audio recording of The Selfish Giant (Clarice
Assad/Lila Palmer) with Opera Saratoga, was a featured soloist for Beth Morrison Project's 2021 BMP:Next Gen Finalists’ Concert, and was praised for her “vocal assurance” as Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Neo. In 2019, Sydney covered the Title Role of Ricky Ian Gordon's Ellen West, and was featured at Woolsey Hall as the soprano soloist in The Here and Now (Christopher Theofanidis) and Symphony No. 1: Omnes Gentes (Brett Keüper Abigaña). Later this season, she will create the role of Dalinda in the World Premiere of Being Ariodante by Jonathan Dawe with Ensemble Échappée. COVID-19 postponements from the 2020 season include Juana in En la ardiente oscuridad (O. Najmi) with The Phoenicia Festival, Vienna in Der glorreiche Augenblick (Beethoven) with Manchester Symphony Orchestra, Gretel in Hansel und Gretel with City Lyric Opera, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera in the Heights, and Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Finger Lakes Opera. Sydney was named an Eastern Region Finalist after winning the Eastern District of the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and went on to win the Audience Favorite Award at the Region Finals.
